Reliability enhancements

We have made two reliability enhancements to the HEAVYROTATIONS main page:
  • You may have noticed that after a while HEAVYROTATIONS would freeze. We have added code to force a refresh if the main page. This should not affect your experience of the site; at most you will notice a flicker.
  • We have add to beef up the code that safeguards submission of new blogs or sites to HEAVYROTATIONS. Some people were abusing the site by trying to insert multiple copies of their blog. This had the effect of penalizing partners that play by the rules.

To benefit from this enhancement you have to either quit and come back in or refresh the page.

Enhancement to an enhancement

In a previous post we discussed a reliability enhancements to the HEAVYROTATIONS main page:
  • Some sites or blogs would go "bad" or slow and HEAVYROTATIONS would freeze and, on refresh, would sometimes crash. Blogger (blogpost.com) was a particularly prone host for this behavior.
  • Our initial reliability enhancement would flag the affected site or blog, blocking it from view until we did a manual review and reset the flag. This caused some sites or blogs experiencing transient problem to be invisible for fairly long times.
  • The new evolution is self-fixing; when the site or blog starts responding correctly if becomes visible again.
  • We do verify the sites or blogs that remain questionable for a long period of time and eliminate those that are truly dead

To benefit from this enhancement you have to either quit and come back in or refresh the page.
