Letting our competition feel the LOVE

HEAVYROTATIONS is fairly new in the blog and website promotion arena but it is coming up fast. It does appear that our main competitors AlphaInventions and BlogSurfer have taken umbrage and blocked the HEAVYROTATIONS blog from being displayed on their sites.

Our response? We added them to HEAVYROTATIONS! We'd love nothing more than to have our partners benefit from the best three discovery sites; HEAVYROTATIONS, AlphaInventions, and BlogSurfer. Feel the LOVE!!!

Reliability enhancement

We have made a reliability enhancement to the HEAVYROTATIONS main page:
  • When a site or blog went "bad", HEAVYROTATIONS would freeze and, on refresh, would crash. We have added code to flag such sites and take out of rotation.

To benefit from this enhancement you have to either quit and come back in or refresh the page.

Making HEAVYROTATIONS work for you

How can you make HEAVYROTATIONS work for you?
  • Join our banner partner program. You'll instantly get a 5-fold increase in views coming from HEAVYROTATIONS.
  • Get a good anti-virus program; we are on Windows boxes and we run Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free and as good as anything else around. We do check on the sites we rotate in HEAVYROTATIONS but we cannot guarantee that their code won't change.
  • Open up your browser and point it to HEAVYROTATIONS; the more people have the site up and running the more views you get and the more views they get.
  • Get others you know to have HEAVYROTATIONS up and running and joined up in the banner partner program.
  • Get a browser that does not leak memory. HEAVYROTATIONS is an ASP-based site so you'd expect that IE would be the most compatible browser. Well, it turn out that Firefox is better with our site. This also holds true with other sites that do (not as well) what HEAVYROTATIONS does regardless of the technology they employ.

Enhancements

We have made a few enhancements to the HEAVYROTATIONS main page:.
  • The partner page currently visible has its URL as a link to the top left of the page.
  • If the partner is a subscriber, " + Subscriber" is shown following the URL.
  • If the partner is a banner partner, " + Banner Partner " is shown following the URL and " + Subscriber" if appropriate.
  • AdSense has been enabled but, if a subscriber page is visible our AdSense is suppressed in order not to compete with paying partners.

To see these enhancements you have to either quit and come back or refresh the page.

Q&A 20100810

Q&A from our feedback line

Q: Can you please explain how HEAVYROTATIONS works?
A: Basically HEAVYROTATIONS generates a list from all the sites that have been submitted to us and cycles through them. This list gets automatically updated when new sites are added and when someone stars showing the banner. The cycling creates the traffic that you noticed. The more people keep a browser open and showing HEAVYROTATIONS the more traffic gets generated.

Q: How much will a subscription cost?
A: This has not been decided yet but we assume anywhere between $4 and $8 per month, with multiple levels of service, the lowest would get lets say 20 imprints per cycle and per active viewer (logged in or not) and the highest lets say 60 imprints per cycle and per active viewer.

Banner program

We are proud to announce our newest enhancement, our banner program. For those of you who chose to join the program we offer a 5 fold increase in imprints per rotation. With this new program we'll have 3 categories of partners:
  • Subscribers (currently in test) get 20 imprints per rotation.
  • Banner partners get 5 imprints per rotation.
  • Basic partners get 1 imprint per rotation. Currently this means about 40 imprints a day; more as the number of partners that are online increases.

To join the banner program, insert in your website or blog the code found in this file or send us an email at feedback@heavyrotations.com and we'll reply with the code.

To thank the few partners that have already added the banner to their website or blog, we have upgraded you to a free subscription for the whole of August. Thanks a lot for your confidence in HEAVYROTATIONS!

Server move completed

:-)

The HEAVYROTATIONS team

Server move progress

The server is up and running but targets an obsolete database. Service will need to be interrupted one more time before the transfer is fully completed.

Thanks again for you patience.

The HEAVYROTATIONS team

Server move progress

The server move is still ongoing; we are now waiting for the DNS to propagate so the server can be found when you try to access http://www.heavyrotations.com

The HEAVYROTATIONS team

We're on Twitter!

While we are in the middle of that server move we decided to up the ante, get a Twitter account, and add it the blog. Yes, we can chew gum and walk at the same time!

You can start following us by clicking on the button located on the left. Let's play "Follow you, follow me"

Moving servers

We have started the process of moving servers. Although we will do our best to minimize disruption we cannot insure uninterrupted service.

We hope you will pardon the inconvenience; this change will help us serve you better

Q&A 20100803

Q&A from our feedback line

Q: Am I disqualified for posting more than once?
A: You don't get disqualified for posting more than once but duplicates are automatically discarded.

Q: I watched the blog roll and saw the same guy's blog 3 times in a relatively short period. How did that happen?
A:The guy with repeats is a test subscriber. When the subscriber gets enabled, subscribers will show up many times more often than non subscribers.

Q: Which is better, to submit the general URL or the specific for each post?
A: Submitting the general URL is better.

Keep your questions and suggestions coming!
